The St. Clair Station is known to most as the Taft Station. The name was changed in 2016. Elmo St. Clair was a former Volunteer Firefighter, an Officer, the Fire Chief, and a Board Member of the Taft-Nelscott-Delake Fire Department prior to the merger with Devils Lake Fire Department.
The efforts of Elmo St. Clair led directly to the construction of the Taft Station, which included research, planning, vision, and acquisition of land for the new station. When the two fire departments merged, the name was changed to North Lincoln Fire & Rescue District #1.
This station is located at 4520 SE Highway 101 in Lincoln City, Oregon.
This station is staffed by career firefighters, volunteers who respond from home, and volunteers who pull stipend shifts. Formerly staffed by respond from home volunteers and stipend shift volunteers, the increased call volume of NLFR has necessitated career staffing in addition to volunteers.
NLFR employs a full time mechanic to help maintain the large fleet of apparatus. Station 16 has a dedicated bay to perform such maintenance.
Apparatus housed at this station are Engine-16, Rescue-16, Ladder-16, Heavy Rescue-16, and Water Rescue-16.
